Quote found on the Internet

Driven by a passion for artistic expression and civic engagement, I had the privilege of participating in Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's Congressional Art Competition in both 1992 and 1993. As an artist, I strive to use my talents to bring awareness to important societal issues and contribute to the cultural dialogue.

Mission: My mission is to blend creativity with activism, using art as a powerful tool for social change. I am committed to creating thought-provoking works that inspire conversations and spark new perspectives.

Accomplishments: Participating in Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's Congressional Art Competition was a highlight of my artistic career, providing me with a platform to showcase my work on a national stage. My pieces received recognition for their creativity and originality, further fueling my passion for using art as a means of communication.

“Cultural dialogue can help people understand and respect different cultures, and can even help build trust and communication. Here are some strategies that can help contribute to a successful cultural dialogue:

Be open-minded: Try to be curious and committed, and avoid the desire to "win".

Be respectful: Assume positive intent from others, and avoid making assumptions or stereotypes.

Be empathetic: Try to see the world from someone else's perspective.

Be patient: Be willing to engage in a two-way conversation, and ask questions to learn more.

Create a safe space: Make sure everyone feels comfortable sharing their perspectives.

Be non-superficial: Avoid uninformed claims, and make sure contributions are meaningful and well-researched.

Use "I" statements: When sharing your experiences, feelings, and opinions, use "I" statements instead of making generalizations.”

Quote found on the Internet  “The 1990s marked a transformative era for the entertainment scene in Washington, D.C., where the convergence of political dynamics and cultural expression significantly influenced artistic endeavors. As the capital of the United States, the city served as a vibrant backdrop for political dialogue, which was often reflected in the creative outputs of its artists. Various forms of media, including documentaries, performance art, and literature, emerged as powerful tools for addressing urgent social issues, fostering a deeper engagement with the public and prompting critical discussions on contemporary matters.” I was a student during the 1990s up until the late 1990s.
