Unfiltered Self

Artistic Elegance

Blend of fashion and art “represents a unique fusion that transcends traditional boundaries, creating a dynamic dialogue between two distinct yet complementary disciplines. This amalgamation allows for the exploration of aesthetic principles, where the creativity inherent in artistic expression informs and enhances the design elements of fashion. As a result, garments become not merely items of clothing but rather canvases that convey deeper narratives and cultural commentary, reflecting the zeitgeist of contemporary society.”

Silent Expressions

The act of conveying messages without the use of spoken words is a profound form of communication. This silent expression can manifest through various means, such as body language, facial expressions, and gestures. In many instances, the subtleties of silence can convey emotions, feelings, and thoughts more powerfully than verbal articulation. Silence is not merely the absence of sound but a rich tapestry of meaning that can enhance relationships and facilitate deeper connections. I have said many things in silence. However, I remain puzzled as to why so many single straight men over the age of 30 remain clueless.  Real genuine love is an emotional expression built of genuine feelings and affection. Not personal agendas and manipulation.  This post is inspired by the “Say it with Silence, “ by Hubert Laws, 1978 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppl-lDRVUzo). In 1978, I was 2 years old and drew attraction to many things.

Simple White

The necessity for acquiring whiteboards has diminished for me, as I ceased offering educational services back in 2018. Since that time, my focus has shifted entirely. I have been working on my branding and digital art where I utilize various digital applications to express my creativity. In this context, the color white serves a significant purpose, often representing simplicity and clarity in my artistic endeavors.    “The concept of Simple White embodies the essence of minimalism, where the purity of the color white acts as an open canvas for creativity and innovation, allowing ideas to flourish without the distractions of complexity. The color white encourages a harmonious balance between creativity and tranquility.”

Blogging in the digital age for creatives

Quote found on the Internet  “In today's digital age, blogging has become a powerful tool for writers and artists.   The rise of blogging in the digital era has opened up a myriad of opportunities for creatives to explore their passions and reach wider audiences than ever before. With user-friendly platforms and social media integration, individuals can easily craft and publish their thoughts, artwork, or projects, making it accessible to anyone with an internet connection. This accessibility fosters a sense of community among like-minded individuals, encouraging collaboration and inspiration while allowing creatives to receive immediate feedback on their work, which can be invaluable for growth and development. As the digital age continues to evolve, the role of blogging for creatives is becoming increasingly significant. It serves not only as a medium for self-expression but also as a strategic tool for marketing and networking. By curating content that resonates...

Wellspring of Inspiration

Wellspring of Inspiration. Digital art created on canvas. August 15, 2024. Afrika Abney My home workspace serves as a wellspring of inspiration, fueling my artistic endeavors. Surrounded by the familiar comforts of my environment, I immerse myself in the creative process, allowing the world outside to influence my work. The beauty of the sky, particularly the enchanting phases of the Waxing Gibbous moon, captivates my imagination and often finds its way into my art. Each glance out the window reveals a canvas of shifting colors and textures that spark new ideas and concepts. The symphony of nature plays a crucial role in my creative journey. As I sit at my desk, the gentle sounds of birds chirping and crickets create a soothing backdrop that enhances my focus. These natural melodies not only provide a sense of tranquility but also inspire me to explore themes of harmony and connection in my artwork. The interplay of light and sound outside my window becomes a source of motivation...

DC Color Narrative

DC Color Narrative. Digital art created on canvas. September 16, 2024. Afrika Abney “The color palette of black, purple, and yellow serves as the foundation for my digital abstract artwork. My academic journey culminated in graduation in 1997, during which I explored a diverse array of subjects. Despite my extensive studies, digital art was not included in my curriculum. It wasn't until 2009 that I ventured into the realm of digital artistry. The colors I have selected for my artwork are not merely aesthetic choices; they are deeply intertwined with my identity. Growing up in Washington, DC during the 1970s has profoundly influenced my artistic expression. The vibrant hues of black, purple, and yellow resonate with my experiences and memories, encapsulating the essence of my upbringing in a culturally rich and dynamic environment. My journey into digital art has allowed me to channel my personal and professional history and cultural background into a visual form. The interplay of...
