Spectrum of Self

Spectrum of Self. Digital art created on canvas. August 15, 2024. Afrika Abney

In the process of crafting my abstract digital painting, I dedicated considerable thought to the palette I would employ. The selection of colors became a pivotal aspect of my artistic vision, as I aimed to evoke specific emotions and reactions through my work. I chose a vibrant spectrum that includes shades of blue, red, yellow, purple, and green, each hue carefully considered for its potential to contribute to the overall composition and narrative of the piece.

I strive to infuse my creations with a sense of individuality and creativity, allowing my personality to shine through every brushstroke and digital manipulation. As an independent contractor, I relish the freedom to explore my artistic instincts without constraints, which fuels my desire to experiment with various techniques and styles in the realm of digital art.

With expertise in various techniques, materials, and media, including acrylic paint, I bring a unique perspective to every project. My strong understanding of the properties of acrylics allows me to create intricate layers and complete projects rapidly, while still maintaining a high level of quality.

My skill set includes working with acrylic and oil paint, digital art, oil pastels, crayons, charcoal, colored pencils, canvas, and paper. I have experience in creating abstract digital paintings, abstract paintings, collages, illustrations, graphic design, greeting cards, photography, and providing services as a consultant.

I have honed my craft through training at Capitol Hills Art Workshop, Bell Multicultural High School, Corcoran School of the Arts, and other prestigious institutions. My accomplishments speak for themselves, with a portfolio that showcases my versatility and creativity in every piece.

Blank Canvas

In my digital abstract paintings, I integrate a variety of elements such as vivid colors, intricate brushstrokes, and a diverse array of lines, shapes, and patterns. Each of these components plays a crucial role in the overall composition, contributing to the dynamic visual experience that characterizes my work. However, prior to embarking on the creation of each piece, I take a moment to closely analyze the textured blank canvas that serves as my starting point.

The Industry of Politics

Quote found on the Internet  “The political landscape of Washington, D.C. in 1985 was characterized by a complex interplay of power dynamics, policy debates, and significant events that shaped the trajectory of American governance. This period was marked by the presidency of Ronald Reagan, whose administration was focused on conservative economic policies, a strong anti-communist stance, and a commitment to reducing the size of government. The political atmosphere was charged with discussions surrounding tax cuts, deregulation, and a robust military buildup, all of which were central to Reagan's vision of revitalizing the American economy and asserting its influence on the global stage. Moreover, the social movements of the 1980s, including those advocating for civil rights, women's rights, and environmental protection, were gaining momentum and influencing political discourse. Activism was on the rise, with grassroots organizations mobilizing citizens to engage in the polit...

Tranquil Inspiration

“In the realm of color psychology, blue-green is recognized for its ability to enhance creative processes. This vibrant yet soothing color can evoke feelings of serenity while simultaneously igniting a spark of imagination. In abstract painting, the use of solid colors as a background plays a crucial role in establishing the overall mood and tone of the artwork. These uniform hues can create a sense of depth and dimension, allowing the viewer to focus on the interplay of shapes and forms that emerge from the foreground. By employing solid colors, artists can evoke specific emotions or themes, guiding the audience's interpretation and engagement with the piece. The simplicity of a solid color backdrop can also serve to enhance the complexity of the abstract elements layered on top, creating a striking visual contrast that draws the eye. Ultimately, solid colors in the background contribute significantly to the narrative and aesthetic quality of abstract art, allowing for a rich ex...
